if you get 10 PMs in a room and ask what it means, i’m sure you will get at least 5 different answers. this is not because product management is hard to explain. it is because it’s so different in different companies and at different stages of the same company.

if you’re a PM at an early stage startup with no product at all, you’re doing most of the speaking to users, ideation, market research and so on, to get to that initial version of the product. if you’re PM at a Series B startup, you’ll have the cushion of user researchers, design team, EMs, QA etc… to ensure smooth process from researching to launch of products.

anyways, the point i’m trying to make it is, there is no single definition for product management. it depends a lot on the company and stage of the company.

anyways, let me give my definition of product manager:

a product manager is someone who can make a company successful through solving problems
